Volume #1 first impressions

Mama Akuma is a cute, fantasy manga about a child called, Skaura and how she summons the Demon, Seere to fulfill her wish of having a Mama. Sakura’s Mother passed away when she was born. Therefore, her only experience of a Mother is from how she sees other children interact with their Mum’s. Sakura’s Father works in a manga company so he is very busy and hardly around. One day Sakura summons Seere through her Grandfather’s Grimoire and wishes for Seere to become her Mama! Hence the journey begins as we see Seere doing his best to become a Mama to Sakura and her older brother; who is a bit of a tsundere.

Seere tries to use magic to do the laundry but Sakura tells him a normal Mama wouldn’t use magic. Seere tries his adapt to his new life as a Mama with humans. He lacks emotional intelligence in the beginning based on the past wishes he has granted. However, by being with Sakura, Seere develops more of a social and emotional awareness about humans. Seere meets various people in Sakura’s life and encounters various human bonds which is endearing.

Sakura’s neighbor, Yuu-Chan sometimes helps her with homework and cares for her. Seere is introduced as Sakura’s Father’s, younger brother. Yuu-Chan finds Seere hot, wondering if he was a host before. ^^ He also meets Sakura’s friend and has a preconceived notion that friends are untrustworthy based on his past life encounters. However, with Sakura’s help and interacting with the friend, he realises not all friends are bad.

Conclusion

It’s such a cute story and if you like manga’s such as Kamisama Kiss and the Royal Tutor I would definitely recommend reading Mama Akuma as all the characters are loveable. I look forward to seeing Sakura’s growth and happiness of having a Mama, as well as Seere’s development understanding humans as he grows as a person by Sakura and her families side 🙂
