Key Features

Story

2.5/5

This short, causal, indie otome game is full of laughs and is predominantly adventure, comedy and friendship based with less focus on romance. Therefore, the story does not branch into in-depth romance routes. However, this short game allows us to explore the friendship between the MC and crew, along with 3 other characters during the stops they make on their adventure.

There are four main characters, Kagi the Captain, Jun the cannonball guy, Otto the ship’s doctor, Milos the navigator/peeper. They each have quirky personalities and are funny, I’d say the Captain is the most sensible out of all the crew mates.

It didn’t take me long to finish the game with other endings after the first playthrough, since the branch-off/ending routes are very short almost like an epilogue. You can select who you want to see and want to get close to in the diary feature which helps increase your chances of gaining a romance ending.

There are 3 romanceable side characters too which you meet when the ship stops along the adventure. My favorite was Leif. He’s very cute and I laughed at the scene when he kept banging the table it was comical.  Since it wasn’t romance focused much but overall very funny and enjoyable I’d rate the story 5/10.

Art

3.5/5

I bought this otome game during the summer Steam sale and loved the art style. The quirky characters are so funny and the banter between them and MC is so silly it made me laugh. I really liked the way the character’s expressions change in some dialogue scenes and the MCs shocked face was hilarious too during comical scenes. The interface was simple to use. At times there were text without the text box like CG scenes, it would have been great if the font was more visible.

The CGs and Background images were colourful and nice too. I would have liked to seen more CG’s of the romanceable routes but as it was a short game, overall the art style was consistently great, 7/10.

Sound

4/5

The BGM was great and complemented the pirate theme very well. Cheerful during happy scenes and sombre during serious scenes. 8/10 for Sound.

Paly or Pass?

If you are looking for a light-hearted casual otome game that focuses more on friendship and adventure that will make you laugh along the way, I would definitely recommend Rapscallions On Deck! It is a short game that is a good change of pace after playing dark/heavy plot-based otome games. Overall I’d rate this game 6/10. The art style and characters are lovely and I look forward to future otome games from ChaniMK if they release any more 🙂
