I am the Villain: Manhwa Review
Genre
Synopsis
Our female lead, Lucy, is transmigrated into a novel written by her friend. She soon realises she’s taken over the body of the villainess—destined to meet a tragic end. Determined to avoid this fate and find a way back home, Lucy does everything she can to change the course of the story.
First Impression Review
Lucy meets Noah, an orphan with no memory of his origins, and asks him to become her knight. Lucy is an incredibly likeable character—kind-hearted and genuinely caring towards those around her. This naturally earns her a few admirers, including the prince who once refused to marry her, and his younger brother.
The story is engaging, and I particularly appreciate how even the supporting characters are given depth and meaningful backstories. It’s refreshing to see their development unfold alongside the main plot.
Noah, meanwhile, is an absolute green forest—soft, sweet, and utterly adorable, especially when he blushes and hiccups from being flustered around Lucy.
As the story progresses, we’re given subtle hints about Noah’s true identity, which adds an intriguing layer of mystery. I’m excited to see how this will unfold in future chapters.
Lucy
Lucy is transmigrated into the body of Lucia Aurelius, the villainess in a novel written by her friend. However, she doesn’t know the full plot—only that the villainess is destined to die. To avoid this fate, Lucy quickly calls off her engagement to the prince, but things become politically complicated when he unexpectedly asks for her help.
Early on, she meets our male lead, Noah, and appoints him as her knight. Lucy is a warm, kind-hearted, and gentle soul whose friendly nature draws people to her. Her positive energy not only earns her the support of Noah and the second prince, but also influences the growth of other characters around her.
Lucia’s youngest brother initially dislikes her and eventually discovers her true identity. He’s a bit of a tsundere and difficult to deal with, but Lucy continues to treat him kindly, like a real younger brother—which is absolutely adorable. The dynamic between her and the other characters is so lovely and refreshing, especially as she bonds with them sincerely. For example, she treats the second prince as a genuine friend, even though she knows he was originally meant to be dangerous.
I also love how she expresses her affection for Noah. As their relationship develops, they become such a sweet couple—truly a cuteness overload!
Noah
Our silver-haired male lead, Noah, is a whole green forest! He’s introduced early in the story as an orphan with no memory of his origins. Despite his mysterious background, he’s gentle, loyal, and incredibly endearing. Lucy appoints him as her knight, and from that moment on, he becomes her most devoted protector.
What makes Noah so lovable is his soft and bashful nature—he’s a total green forest! His flustered reactions around Lucy, complete with blushing and hiccups, are absolutely adorable and bring a sweet, light-hearted charm to the story.
As the plot progresses, we begin to see subtle hints about Noah’s true identity, adding a layer of intrigue to his character. There’s clearly more to him than meets the eye, and it’s exciting to watch those secrets slowly unfold.
His relationship with Lucy is one of the highlights of the manhwa. The way he looks at her, supports her, and grows alongside her is heartwarming. Together, they make such a wholesome and sweet couple—it’s pure fluff and cuteness overload!
Art Style
The art style by Seiji is truly unique. Its soft, delicate lines beautifully reflect Lucy’s gentle and kind-hearted nature. What’s especially impressive is how the softness in the artwork also brings out the hidden warmth in other central characters—despite their initially shady or bitter first impression, the visuals subtly hint at their good intentions and deeper personalities.
The use of soft, bright-like colours enhances this effect, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout the story, especially in the market scenes. And let’s not forget the adorable facial expressions—Lucy and Noah’s reactions are not only cute but also hilariously expressive, adding a lovely touch of humour and charm.
I absolutely love the art style—it perfectly complements the tone of the story and makes every panel a joy to look at.
Is it worth a read?
Absolutely—100%! This manhwa is a fantastic read with a compelling story and incredibly loveable characters, especially our main couple. The plot is rich and layered, offering meaningful development not just for Lucy and Noah, but for the other central characters as well.
And let’s talk about Noah—our silver-haired, green forest kuudere! He’s such a standout character, and his mysterious background adds an extra layer of intrigue that keeps you hooked.
I binge-read all 79 chapters because it was just that good. I genuinely can’t wait to see how the story continues to unfold, especially as more is revealed about Noah’s past.
Overall, I’d give this webtoon a 4.5 out of 5 and would happily recommend it!
