Happy Cherry Blossom season! Hope everyone is enjoying longer daylight and the fun things spring has to offer 🙂 Here is an update on the latest otome news this Spring. Ikemen Villains Cybirds latest otome mobile game, Ikemen Villains was released early April and is available on iOS and Android. Synposis by Cybird: ”While working as a letter carrier, you stumble upon Crown, a secret organization whose cursed members serve Her Majesty the Queen. Using their ill-fated powers, the Crown members carry out assassinations and fight evil with evil… Unfortunately for you, you’ve now witnessed their crimes. After all, fairytale villains never get their happy endings…and the dark and twisted path you take with him might just drive you mad…” So far there are three available characters to choose from out of the nine love interests. It is a gacha style game where players receive 5 free tickets which is replenished everyday in order to play the story and affinity level is required to reach a set goal or you may have to do other missions on order to progress in certain sections of the story. The Victorian London setting and character designs are lovely. Each LI has their own secrets and past which will be interesting to unravel. Romance MD: Always on Call Voltage Inc. Ikemen Villains: Wrapped in Wicked Romance Event- Ellis Review

While waiting patiently for Ellis Twilight’s route to be released, we can catch a glimpse of what’s to come through the recent Ikemen Villains Event Story: Wrapped in Wicked Romance. Plot Victor, the Queen’s aide, assigns MC with her first task: to choose one of the Crown members to be her pretend boyfriend for a day in order to help her understand them better. After bumping into Ellis and asking for his opinion on this, he says he would like to role-play as her boyfriend and is set on making it the happiest day for her. Story Ellis was incredibly sweet and attentive when MC sprained her ankle, gently tending to her injury. He even built a wheelchair from scratch so she wouldn’t have to walk with her injured ankle. While roaming around town, Ellis seemed to be well-known by the locals and had a positive reputation. They offered him food and thanked him for the kindness he had shown them. I like how Ellis is portrayed in a positive light by ordinary people outside of the Crown; it further showcases his kind and sweet nature. We also learn that he has made a promise to Jude, which he is determined to fulfill. When MC asks Jude about it later, he inquires if Ellis asked how happy she was, to which she says, yes. Then he comments on her luck in returning alive. Although we see Ellis’s good side with his kindness and generosity, there are moments in MC’s monologue where her instincts tell her something isn’t right. However, she overlooks this while being enchanted by Ellis, who treats her well and even remembers what she wanted for breakfast. System Compared to other gacha games, I appreciated how easy it was to reach the premium ending without spending money or coins; I only needed coins for the epilogue. Additionally, I didn’t have to purchase coins, as I had enough free ones to obtain the epilogue. While it would have been nice if a CG was included, considering how short the story was, it was overall a great experience, and I enjoyed learning more about Ellis Overall From the story, we can see that Ellis is the type to spoil his lover and hyper-focus on ensuring her happiness, which is sweet and considerate. However, his frequent inquiries about her happiness raise some doubts. This leaves us wanting to know more about his backstory and what led him to be this way. The juxtaposition between his emo vibe, with his languid voice and fluffy dark hair (which I love), and his focus on happiness in a twisted yet kind sense at times, is very intriguing. I can’t wait for his route to be released to uncover more of his backstory and his connection with Jude. Overall I’d rate it 4/5. Sympathy Kiss Limited Edition Merchandise Review

I ordered the Limited Edition of Sympathy Kiss last month and finally managed to do a quick merchandise review. The soft, colourful office stationary and tumbler are my favourite. I haven’t read the handbook or heard the Drama CD yet as I don’t want to spoil myself before playing the game at some point as I have a massive backlog of otome games xD. Tumbler The Tumbler came in a cute rectangle box which has characters on each side. The Collector’s Box with the merchandise is also of good quality. Stationery Set I like the soft, bright colours used for the sticky notes, memo pad and paper tabs. The mini chibi characters at the bottom of the memo pad are cute. The quality is good. Notebook The quality of the notebook cover is really bad in terms of colour and texture. Here’s a close-up shot below to show you what I mean. However, the pages inside are okay and has a nice purple colour. Handbook The quality of the Handbook is good and also hardback cover. This contains extra content of the characters so I haven’t properly looked inside as I don’t want any spoilers. Drama CD The Drama CD packaging is cool and has 2 discs. Players can also follow the english tanslation on ifi.games/sympathykiss/drama Overall, love the Tumbler and cute office stationary, there’s a lot of extra character content we get from the Drama CD and Handbook so pleased with that. The only disappointing thing was the quality of the Notebook. Nevertheless, the rest of the merchandise is great ^^

Voltage Inc. games avaialable on Nintendo Switch Action-packed romance game, Metro PD: Close to you was the latest edition to the Switch and Steam Port games which was released in November 2023. It also featured a new opening trailer. Starring a young detective who, through solving dangerous cases alongside her new boss, falls in love. I’m so glad Masquerade Kiss was ported to Nintendo Switch. The game within the mobile platform was a Love Choice based system, which requires coins as you go along the story and players have to buy LC coupons to select better ending and CG’s (can be pricey). I would recommend buying the LC games on Nintendo Switch or Steam as it is more affordable compared to the LC system on Love365 app. Hoping Voltage will release more LC system games on Nintendo Switch. Happy New Year! It’s been a busy past few months and I wanted to post more on my favourite otome stuff for 2023, however, I was ill on and off the past month and was busy during the winter break so didn’t get to post as much. The trailer is great and the VA cast looks amazing. I can’t wait to see more of William ^^ Love and Deepspace Love and Deepspace, by InFold Pte. Ltd. is set to release 18th January 2024. The 3D animated and voiced mobile romance game is very intruiginng with the cool MC POV video feature when communicating with the LI’s. My Top 15 Favourite Anime 2023!

There were so many great anime this year, with jam-packed music-themed anime in the fall season like Paradox Live, to found family comedies like Buddy Daddies and action-packed drama which had us on the edge of our seats with Bungo Stray Dogs season 5 – as the anime caught up with the Manga – so there were no spoilers to what will happen next! I’ve had a thrilling anime journey this year and here are my Top 15 favourite anime of 2023! 15. Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion Release date: Spring 2023 Studio: Typhoon GraphicsTheme: Isekai, Romance, Adapted from Manhwa This is the first josei romance anime I have come across which is adapted from a Manhwa. I enjoyed the BGM song played in the boat scene with the main leads enjoying the fireworks. My favourite character is Adam Taylor and I like how the scene where Raeliana asks him for help was adapted. 14. The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Villainess to Savior Release date: Summer 2023 Studio: OLM Team YoshiokaTheme: Isekai, Romance, Adapted from Light Novel Strong female lead, I liked how she supported all the characters in a positive way by encouraging them and motivating them. 13. My Happy Marriage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHkn20xqybk Release date: Summer 2023 Studio: Kinema CitrusTheme: Historical, Romance, Adapted from Light Novel, Supernatural I love the Opening song “Anata no Soba ni. (貴方の側に。)” by Riria. The first half of the anime was great and the art style quality is amazing. during the latter half I did get a bit bored when the cousin came into the picture. Nevertheless, it ended well. Hoping for a season 2. 12. Skip and Loafer Release date: Spring 2023 Studio:P.A. WorksTheme: Adapted from Manga, Seinen, Highschool This was an interesting anime. I thought it would be a wholesome cute anime based on the OP song and cute art style as I have not read the manga, however it exceeded my expectation as we understand Shima’s POV. All the characters are likeable and especially the female protagonist, Mistumi as she adjusts into her new life in the city and has a positive impact towards those around her from her energetic and earnest personality. 11. Buddy Daddies Release date: Winter 2023 Studio: P.A. WorksTheme: Not adapted from manga, Found family, Action, Comedy I really liked Rei’s development in this series and there were many comedic moments. The ending was wholesome and well rounded too. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc Release date: Spring 2023 Studio: UfotableTheme: Adapted from Manga, Action, Samurai, Supernatural I love Mitsuri, she is such a strong and beautiful character inside and out. Also love the green and pink colour combination. Tanjiro and Nezuko are the best sibling duo I have seen in an anime IMO. I love how they support each other and this series brilliantly showed their bond in such an emotive way. 9. I’m Giving the Disgraced Noble Lady I Rescued a Crash Course in Naughtiness Release date: Fall 2023 Studio: Zero-G, Digital Network AnimationTheme: Adapted from Light Novel, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance This is my favourite Rom-Com anime this year. Allen and Charlotte have such great chemistry and Allen’s sister is a great wing-girl supporting their slow burn romance. It’s a cute and wholesome anime that made me laugh. The magical creatures are adorable too. 8. Undead Murder Farce https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USr-jDwBlgc Release date: Summer 2023 Studio:Lapin TrackTheme: Adapted from Novel, Detective, Action, Historical Eccentric detectives and flamboyant characters fighting for the Platinum night diamond. The fight scene between Tsugaru, Lupin and other guys was fun to watch as it looked like they were enjoying the thrill of the fight. The OP song is catchy too which matches the unhinged characters. Hope we get a second season. 7. HYPNOSIS MIC -Division Rap Battle- Rhyme Anima+ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNYoMqgFwoM Release date: Fall 2023 Studio: A-1 PicturesTheme: Music, Rap battles, teamwork Second season of Hypnosis Mic, we are introduced to two a few new teams and some of them are friends of the original cast. It was good to see all the cast collaborate and also lots of comical moments. I liked the OP song too. 6.The Yuzuki Family’s Four Sons Release date: Fall 2023 Studio: ShukaTheme: Family, Wholesome, Orphans Hayato, the oldest brother looks after his three younger brothers after their parents passed away in an accident. Each episode focuses on the POV of one of the brothers as we see their daily lives of being a family caring for each other in their own way and their brotherly bond 🙂 5. Ron Kamonohashi’s Forbidden Deductions Release date: Fall 2023 Studio: DiomedéaTheme: Detectives, Comedy, Murder mystery Ron a former detective who was framed and Toto a rookie detective team up to solve unresolved cases and unravel the truth of Ron’s past throughout their detective journey. Enjoyed the goofiness of Ron and Toto’s banter as well as getting to see the murder case explained. Season 2 has been confirmed! 4. Paradox Live the Animation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYhwm75YkCo Release date: Fall 2023 Studio: Pine JamTheme: Music, Competition, Holographic images, Sci-Fi, Friendship This music anime was full of angst and trauma. I love the friendship that develops between the teams and this is illustrated in the final song where they all sing together to save their friend. Episode 11 was my favourite, the song by BURAIKAN is so good, I can’t wait for the full version of the song to come out. 3. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjkNwuPcl50 Release date: Fall 2023 Studio: MAPPATheme: Shounen, Supernatural, Action, Strong fighters The OP song is a banger and it is supposed to be a song for the villains and omg the villains in this series did a great job being one especially Mahito and Sukuna but still hate Mahito and what he did. Choso and his brotherly love was endearing. My respect for Nanami went up, he is the definition of a great masculine gentleman. MAPPA did a great job animating Gojo as always (so much fan service for the girls haha). This is the best shounen anime which portrays strong female characters without sexualising them. On the other hand, a lot of eye candy for the female gaze without the characters even taking their shirt off. Bravo to MAPPA. 2. The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgmHhWqoU54 Release date: Fall 2023 Studio: Zero-G, LiberTheme: Office Romance, adorably shy male lead, cat loving female lead, supernatural. This is my favourite romance anime for 2023. Himura as such a cute male lead that gets bashful and excited when it comes to cats and Fuyutsuki. He cannot hide his emotions and they come out in the form of snow inherited from his snow spirit lineage. I would deffo reccommend this anime if you love Watakoi (2018) or an adorable ML. 1. Bungo Stray Dogs 5th Season https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-CcrNN3xG4 Release date: Fall 2023 Studio: BonesTheme: Action, Dystopia, Military, Detective Agency, Psychological War, Angst. My number one favourite anime for 2023 which had me at the edge of my seat during that Dazai and Chuuya scene and baeling my eyes out at the end, Bungo Stray Dogs season 5 was an abosulte epic anime. It was such a rollercoaster ride with various character sub plots happening at the same time and Chuuya pretending to be a vampire was just hilarious. This series was well written and enjoyed every moment of it. 10/10, exhilarating and emotive. Hope you enjoyed my Top 15 favourite Anime 2023!
