First Impression Review

There are 11 chapters so far since writing this as it’s a new manhwa published on Tappytoon,

13th Prince is a promising new manhwa. Here’s my first impression of the story:

The Male lead, Kilad is of royal blood and hates the palace as it reminds him of the cruelty of growing up as royalty, therefore he left the palace and became captain of the knights. He is also driven by his admiration for his older brother, Elliot who wishes for peace. Whilst following his brother at a young age Kilad encounters Alkina whom his older brother saved from the fire. Therefore, Alkina admires Elliot and wishes to repay him for saving her.

Kilad, meanwhile, silently harbors a crush on Alkina while holding deep love and respect for his brother. The dynamic between Kilad and Alkina is delightful, especially since Kilad is such a softie for her—his flustered reaction when Alkina jokingly asked if he had a crush on her was particularly endearing! Their bond, along with their shared admiration for Elliot, is central to the story’s quest for peace, making their journey both heartfelt and compelling.

Art Style

The art style is unique, with plenty of comical illustrations capturing funny moments that balance out the heavy political plot, keeping the story engaging.

I also like how we have a tanned, strong female lead. We also get to see the male lead in black hair too.

Romance

This feels like it might be a slow-burn, one-sided love from Kilad that gradually becomes mutual as their journey for peace unfolds. It’s still early days, but I’m enjoying the contrast in their dynamic—Kilad brings golden retriever energy, while the female lead exudes black cat energy. This balance creates a unique and intriguing romantic tension that I’m excited to see develop further.

Is it worth a read?

The male lead is adorably funny, while the female lead is both strong and delightfully expressive, adding a cute touch to her character. Their dynamic is engaging, and I’m excited to see how their relationship evolves in future episodes. Overall, I’d rate this webtoon a 3.5/5 and would definitely recommend it!
